iman dupree (they/them/theirs)

location: washington, dc

artistic practice: vintage inspired portraiture, cinematography, screenwriting, sound design, poetry.

artistic statement: navigating with ancestral guidance, the aim of my art is simply to reflect the times. i express through the medium of cinema and poetry to explore the complexities of life, love and longing, through a purely intersectional lens. focusing on themes of Blackness, queerness, sexuality, disability, romanticism, fatness, and select others, i strive to evolve cinema beyond its historical tropes. i avoid 3-act structured storytelling. i do not produce white-centric projects. no matter the tale, love will reside at its core. my objective: to thrive as an underground artist, who dares to create the films that others won’t, and to inspire more.. who will.
